Report from Fleur Nooteboom

On Saturday 15th November 2009 the 28th Radioday was held in Amsterdam and this year it was the second time that the bi-annual radioday awards were presented. This year 2 out of 6 awards were presented to people heavily involved with Radio Caroline: Keith Skues and Johnny Lewis received awards for outstanding contribution to offshore radio. the award for Keith Skues (Caroline and Laser) was presented by Jon Myer, the man behind the Offshore radio Hall of Fame website. Johnny Lewis got his award from another Radio Caroline presenter and great friend: Bob 'Buzby' Lawrence. Buzby also asked permission -and got it- to present a very special award - never before had the Radio Caroline organisation and it was awarded to someone for his or her help or work for the station. This year a man that had worked behind the scenes and as a DJ for 33 years of his life with Radio Caroline - Nigel Harris. The award was an engraved brass Caroline Bell. Nigel was very surprised, emotionally and almost speechless.... Also a very detailed scale model of the mi amigo was on display.
