Romsey Pubs & Business's in the 50's & 60's Elsewhere on the Woodley Net website there is plenty of information about the origins and the history of “PUBS”. After reading these I thought I would keep my efforts more personal. The reason for this, I had worked for Jenkins & Sons (Builders) renovating many of the pubs in and around Romsey. It seems that Romsey, in much earlier times had 81 public houses. Therefore, I got to thinking, “how many pubs were there in my time”? After thinking for a while and consulting with Chris (the editor). I have come up with a list of thirty-four pubs for Romsey and the surrounding area during the period between 1950 and 1965. Rack your brains, do your recall any that I have missed? |
