Salisbury Wilts and Dorset bus in the Market Place, Romsey. 1960's

The Wilts and Dorset bus was delivered new in 1954 for crew operation

but was rebuilt in Salisbury in 1959 for one man operation. These rebuilt buses

(a batch of 10 or 12) were known to the crews as "conker boxes"

This No. 63 bus destination was Southampton via North Baddesley and Rownhams

The bus is a Bristol Lodekka based at the Southampton depot of Hants and Dorset.

Built between 1955 and 1959 some of these vehicles remained in service until the late 1970's.
